They dont hate the timer, they hate the fake timer. Not remove it because you say people hate the timer. What you dont do is remove it because its pesky and annoying, you re-design it properly like an actual dev. This would be so beneficial, pros can instantly get to the story, not wait around for cases to move when they feel like it, allow exploration without fear of failure, and STILL have agency and prioritizing objectives. Have it put that wrist watch to even more use and set a alarm to buzz off when the time is up and you can get to the next main case. Theres an easy fix for this too, allow frank to take a nap at the security station and other safe spots. Now some would say, BUT i dont want to wait X amount of hours to get the next case. 72 hours is a lot of time to explore the mall, casino, city, mall v2 and more. Now this would also fix the issue of say not having enough content or time to explore. So how do you fix it? Simple, make it an ACTUAL 72 hours, that way you have a realistic time and a feeling that time is correct. ![]() ![]() This game runs on whacky time, much like early NES games. The issue here is one hour in this game is around 4-5 minutes (if anyone has exacts please let me know.) Human beings dont work like that, we have biological clocks in our minds that let us know "oh suns down time for some rest". While in the real world, only 10 minutes have passed. In practice however, saving one survivor takes up to near 2 hours depending on your luck. That should be plenty of time to get the scoops, rescue all 50 survivors, reach level 50, kill 54k zombies, and get all pp stickers and cloths tried on. The game gives you "72" hours before the chopper arrives on day 3. ![]() The issue is not in the timer itself, rather how it works. The timer is a great aspect, it gives you agency (something many open world games lack) and has you prioritizing goals (something open world games also suffer). Before i get pounced on with a good 10 responses saying the timer great and if you dont like it dont play dead rising let me explain. ![]()
